You’ve probably heard the expression “walk a mile in someone else’s shoes,” and I’m guessing it makes a lot of sense to you. I think it does for most people, so I’m not going to waste a lot of space talking about the benefits of doing it.

There are at least two problems with this advice, though. First is realizing that you’re the one who should start walking that mile. After all, if you are anything like me, then you might find it really easy to spot when other people are too self-centered to realize their negative effects on others.
