Getting away on holiday can quickly become an expensive venture. Airfare, hotels, meals, rental cars, gas, and admission fees all add up. There is also the stress of packing, loading up the car, not losing a kid or two at the airport, unpacking on the other end, navigating a new city and finding a place to eat that caters to everyone’s tastes.
Planning a vacation with your own home as “home base” can relieve a lot of stress and be a little easier on the bank account.
When my husband and I lived in Australia we were always caught off guard by two statements the locals made as it came to travel destinations:
1. With respect to where we were from: “Oh we’ve been to Canada it’s beautiful!”
