Mary Beth and I made another trek across Kansas last weekend. Andrew’s college baseball team was playing in Pratt, Kansas which is about one hour west of Wichita and four hours from our home.
Somewhere on US Route 400, I spotted an unusual gasoline station. A big red sign announced the station offered full-service. The sign told me, in so many words, that my gas would be pumped for me. Perhaps my windshield would be cleaned and my tire pressure checked, too – just like in the old days.
The full-service sign surprised me.
I have grown accustomed, maybe even numb, to either poor service or no service at all. Often I find myself bagging my own groceries... More...
